Classical 8EX features a computer-calculated circular wooden horn with a 44mm diaphragm titanium compression driver. The 8-inch woofer is made of rigid and lightweight carbon fiber, and the high-quality crossover network components set the crossover frequency at a low 1200Hz. Classical 8EX is able to deliver a huge sense of scale, much larger than competitors' sound stage. The sound is open and warm with the lively presentation. Classical 8EX can easily generate a room-filling sound when pairing with small amps, thanks to the high-efficiency design. It can also be driven by high power amps to obtain more authoritative sound.
With Classical 8EX, LALS offers the same strong dynamics usually found on large speakers in a smaller package. The sound dispersion and directivity are designed with precise calculation, and ideal frequency response is achieved. Horn speakers are highly efficient. This allows them to achieve lifelike and highly realistic sound effortlessly. In the meantime, the high energy output from the horns can sometimes lead to shouty and harsh sounds in some spaces like concrete houses that have room modes emphasizing high frequencies. To better tame the treble under these circumstances, LALS has put the treble attenuators at the back of Classical 8EX. This way, one can easily adjust for optimal performances simply by turning the knob.

Russian birch plywood that is stronger and denser than ordinaryMedium-density fiberboard (MDF) is used to gain lower resonances for better acoustic performance.
