"VR3000 for Gaming" was developed based on final's research into the acoustic physical characteristics required for transducers to reproduce acoustic spatial impressions as intended by creators in immersive binaural sound reproduction through headphones and earphones. On the other hand, "VR2000 for Gaming" was developed with the aim of making object sounds contained in game sounds more audible by focusing on the findings of distance perception in spatial acoustics obtained from this research, as well as adding knowledge gained from final's ongoing research on sound color reproduction in headphones and earphones. As a result, "VR2000 for Gaming" makes it easier to "quickly react to trigger sounds" required in gameplay while based on the spatial acoustic characteristics of "VR3000 for Gaming".
*Note: "Immersive Binaural Sound": Binaural sound that enables listening to three-dimensional audio characterized by sound image localization and sound space expansion in any three-dimensional direction (front-back, left-right, up-down) through earphones or headphones.
To achieve unprecedented sound quality in this price range, we established a new overseas base and developed the completely new 6mmφ dynamic driver unit "f-Core DU" by redesigning driver components such as diaphragms, voice coils, magnets, magnetic circuits, and adhesives for each part, as well as production equipment. The driver front housing material uses brass, which is less susceptible to magnetic influence and has a higher specific gravity than commonly used aluminum. To improve the time response performance of the diaphragm, we use 30μ ultra-fine CCAW for the voice coil and assemble it with minimal adhesive to thoroughly reduce the weight of the moving parts. Furthermore, we achieved the formation of a uniform diaphragm with minimal distortion by carefully pressing it in small lots about 1/3 of the usual size, minimizing pressure unevenness.
Unusually for final, this product features a colored design with the housing, ear pieces, cable, and ear hooks all unified in the "DARK OLIVE" color. It's an eye-catching cool color scheme that adds a playful touch to the product.
We have adopted two types of silicone materials with different hardness for the sound tube and the part that touches the ear. For the sound tube part, we used silicone with higher hardness compared to the part that touches the ear, and applied groove processing to achieve both strength and flexibility. For the part that touches the ear, we used softer silicone to achieve comfortable fit and high sound insulation. By making one axis color gray and the other red, it's easy to distinguish left and right even in dim places by slightly lifting the ear piece to check the axis color. Additionally, the axis colors of adjacent sizes are different (alternating dark gray and light gray for gray axes, alternating red and pink for red axes), making it easier to distinguish sizes as well.
"VR2000 for Gaming" achieves superior fit based on the optimal IEM housing design established during the development of the "B series". Whether an earphone's fit is excellent or not is determined by the sense of pressure. Methods that use silicone rebound force for retention, such as choosing organic shapes that claim to be ergonomic, may seem correct at first glance, but they constantly apply force to the ear, causing unnoticed burden and accumulating fatigue. Compared to organic shapes with large contact areas with the ear, we aimed for a pressure-free fit by limiting the contact area. The housing of "VR2000 for Gaming" is held stable by three points. As shown in the figure below, these are one point from the pink area (ear pocket), one point from the green area (ear piece), and one point from the blue area (tragus), totaling three points. Therefore, it fits well with many people's ears. If there's no pressure at all contact points, you'll feel that earphone wearing can be this comfortable, achieving an excellent fit as if it were a customized earphone.
Ear hooks are useful for reducing touch noise, and when worn, they dramatically reduce the unpleasant rustling sound (cable touch noise) that occurs when the cable touches the body while walking. Our ear hooks are slimmer than typical ear hooks and feature comfort that makes you forget you're wearing them, with less foreign body sensation compared to cables with wires or resin. They are a type with a locking mechanism (Type B) that can be firmly fixed to the cable.
